assets iPhone application

assets is a Financial Information Management application that keeps track of your assets. The app works on the basis of annual revaluation of assets, where you enter an initial purchase price, a date, set the annual depreciation percentage rate (ADPR), and a minimum value percentage rate. The program will then calculate the current value of the asset using this information. All assets are revalued daily on this basis. For those assets that do not depreciate / appreciate along fixed rates, but instead fluctuate with market conditions, you can enter the current market rate manually. This is available when you set the annual depreciation rate to zero.
You can also choose to appreciate an asset by entering a minus ADPR%. This is useful for fixed income bank deposits, or property valuations that are appreciating along fixed rates. Liabilities against assets can also be recorded by specifying negative amounts, which can be used to offset loans against assets.
Overview Screen
This screen displays the sum of assets by category. Each line displays the category, the current value sum on the top right, and the original price sum below. The footer displays the totals.
Details List
This screen displays the details for each asset, giving the title, category, purchase date, current value, and purchase price. You can use this screen to display all assets or assets belonging to a specific category. The category picker button on the top right lets you switch between categories. The sums at the bottom reflect the current filtering mode. The color of the value amount indicates three states of the asset:-
Black – Asset being revalued using the ADPR% Rate set.
Red – Asset depreciated past the minimum value percentage rate set and is set to the minimum value.
Purple – Asset not being revalued automatically, but market value manually set.
Asset Detail View
This screen displays the details for a single asset. The notes sticky is a scrollable view so all notes entered can be displayed.
Edit Asset
The edit screen allows you to add, amend, or delete an asset. This single screen will bring out all the data entry tools associated with a field on tap of the field. The data entry tools will be dismissed on tap of the field again, or on tap of another field. All financial calculations are dynamically updated whilst editing, so the screen can also be used as a quick what if? type function when looking at second hand purchases.
Picture Management
The picture management screen is available by tapping the picture stamp icon on either the Asset Detail View Screen or the Edit Asset Screen. This screen provides facilities for entering new pictures, either from the iPhone camera, or the picture library, and also deleting pictures. The large picture view provides a zoomable/scrollable image, and the thumbnails at the bottom are in a scrollable view to allow picture browsing. You can take any number of pictures for each asset, which is useful for gathering different views, and associated receipts, deeds, etc.
Preferences
The preferences screen allows you to choose the sort modes for the overview and list screens (sort on current value/purchase price/A..Z), Set the e-mail format (either HTML table, tab delimited text file, or both), and to manage password details.
E-Mail Function
The e-mail function allows sending asset details from within the app. The e-mail button is context sensitive, so if on the overview screen, only the summary details will be sent, and if on the details list screen, the details of all assets or assets filtered by category will be sent. The message will be sent respecting the current sorting mode settings. Prior to sending any e-mail, you can edit the information, including deleting rows and changing text within table cells.
